Awakening and Rest : a mural for a baby to come

The Sun and The Moon, the sky’s gradation and the following Cycles.

A soothing mural for a baby to come.

Csilla told me a out her desire to welcome Sandra, her pregnant step daughter. She thought of a mural for the future baby.

She wanted the baby to have a soothing scene as a view from the cradle. I suggest The Sun and The Moon from mexican iconography, and a nature scene with a sky gradation and birds. Her enthusiasm motivates me and gives me joy.

The day brakes or the night falls: a repeating cycle, the sky and the birds.

Two big circles with different colors follow each other, the first overflowing a bit on the other.

The day brakes or the night falls. It’s a repeating cycle, created by the two entities. The Sun and The Moon with the staring eyes, like two guides. The baby will meet their gaze, see the colors and the circular shapes. I hope they will be intrigued, and later inspired.

The blue color chart, from night to sky, ends in the river. It takes in its passing through the grass, a glimpse of yellow that reflects the vegetation. The blue becomes water, turquoise or crystalline according to the light reflections.

Birds are around the river. A Stork refreshes its feet in the water, a Robin looks for its food in the grass, an Owl on a branch is resting. Behind it the sky’s gradient reached a deep blue. The night is calm, starts fall from the sky to come rest next to the cradle.

Simplicity and vivacity, life momentum, love and hope, awakening and rest.

It’s a simple and vivacious composition. I wanted it to echo the life momentum.

The images represented had to have something to do with the energy at the beginning of life. An energy that I imagine explosive and restrained, full of questions and desires, without being able to express them. Uncertain energy where anything can happen. Intense and subtle. Love will be its most useful support. I think of love and hope while painting. The Sun’s and the Moon’s love embrace must be a warm message of hope.

I wanted the scene to be able to receive the baby’s gaze while giving them a defined space to look at, accompanying them in awakening or rest.
